7 Ways to ReUse Glass Perfume Bottles:
(Helpful instructions on cleaning and removing the scent of a perfume bottle below)
1. Reuse a glass perfume bottle as an elegant vase for your flowers
2. After the bottle is thoroughly cleaned, fit a pump onto it and refill it with hand soap for a great soap dispenser
3. Paint the outside of the bottle for a refreshing new look to decorate your home
4. Reuse them as wonderful backyard decorations or ornaments
5. Organize your jewelry
6. Refill a glass perfume bottle with essential oils and place wooden skewers in it for an easy room diffuser
7. Turn them into unique paperweights
Disclaimer: Before you reuse a perfume bottle be sure to remove the dauber or stopper from the top. Some perfume bottles have the atomizer screwed in place so be careful when removing this. If it’s screwed into place, get a small screwdriver and gently unscrew it, and be sure to not chip the mouth of the bottle. Next, the liquid contents must be removed. We strongly recommend not dumping the remaining liquid down the sink, but to take it to a hazardous waste disposal site. If the bottle has stains on the inside you can add a small amount of bleach to the cleaning solution, pour it into the bottle, and shake it to loosen the stain. If this does not work, you may need to let the bottle soak for a while, sometimes for a few hours, before the stain will loosen. Next, if you wish to get rid of the bottle’s fragrance, you can pour rubbing alcohol into the bottle, cover the top of it, and let it sit overnight. Then take a drop of dish washing liquid and hot water and shake it up. Keep refilling with hot water until soapy consistency is gone.
You can also try soaking the bottle overnight with baking soda and a little water. (may need to do this more than once…)
